BT Broadband Upgrade

Go to solution

Good afternoon,

I have BT Broadband FTTC which has a download speed of 38Mbps.

On Friday 10th Dec I received a text message from BT saying that there would be a short break in my connection

from 0900 Saturday 11th Dec whilst they did an upgrade to their system which would result in increased speed

at no extra cost.

Great! I thought, but there was no noticeable break and my speed is the same.

I therefore assume that the work didn't take place, but how can I confirm this please?

I don't like dangling carrots!

It's also possible that the upgrade did take place but you could be at the top end of your supported line speed so therefore there was no noticeable speed increase.  They've been switching off ADSL and moving people to FTTC so those on ADSL would have got the increased speed.

The only possible upgrade that would increase your speed from 38Mbps would be to FTTP.

Thanks NigelB72,
As I said, I'm already on FTTC, so not sure what they're on about!

Thanks licquorice, that's what I thought, so is there anyway to find out if the message was sent in error?

Not really, just put it down to 'one of those things'.

Possibly just a generic text sent to everyone regardless of whether on ADSL or FTTC.

Re: BT Broadband Upgrade

As @licquorice said, it's more than likely a generic text sent to everyone who could be affected by the outage

Thanks to everyone who's made a suggestion, but who marked this as SOLVED when it hasn't been?

Surely I'm the only one who can decide that?
