I can't get my inclusive BT Antivirus software to reactivate on our second PC - I get 2 devises protected as part of my broadband subscription. It always worked well in teh past until I started getting messages that my McAfree was about to expire. I've reinstalled it half a dozen times and deactivated and reactivated it, but when I open the software on the PC it says that it is deactivated even though in my online BT account it is active. I'm waiting for a call back from BT which will be in the next 48 hours, but the suggestion was I should delete the 2nd PC's profile when I log into my BT account, which I can't do and the BT call handler couldn't advise how I did either. Help please!
BT Antivirus is just a re-branded McAfee.
There is a known problem with McAfee in that the uninstaller leaves various registry keys behind, if you don't remove these then you are wasting your time trying to re-install it.
You need to download the MCPR removal tool from the McAfee website then do the following.
Run the uninstaller
Restart your PC
Install and run the MCPR removal tool
Restart your PC
Re-install BT Protect.
Don't be tempted to try and shortcut the restarts, it doesn't work
Dear Mr Meldrew,
Thank you - a brilliant solution that worked! After 4 frustrating days the antivirus on the 2nd inclusive licence is working. I decided to run the MCPR and restart protocol you advised 3 time just to be sure.
I am delighted and can't thank you enough!
FTW
AAAAgghhhh - after 5 minutes my software has come up as 'deactivated' again!! Solution sadly failed!
Sadly still not solved!

Sorry to hear that.
I can only suggest that you run the uninstaller and the MCPR tool again. Having done that, and before re-installing BT protect, download and run the Pre-Install tool from the McAfee website, restart and try again.
Download CCleaner and install on your machine.
Do as suggested to uninstall and run the MCPR tool but before trying to reinstall McAfee run CCleaner registry cleaner and the Custom Clean. This will clear out any dross left behind and should aid the reinstallation process.
Going from my own experience, those messages usually occur after BT-Protect has updated itself, I just do a right click on the McAfee icon in the system tray and then click Verify Subscription from the pop-up menu.
You seem to have been very unlucky but I suggest you look back to your old thread where you will find that myself and @gg30340 have left you further replies
I have merged your threads as there was no need to start a new thread for the same problem.
Thank you all - I have have tried all of the solutions you have provided but still coming up with teh need to reactivate without being able to do so!
