Re: BT TV Box Pro - comments/questions

I leave mine in 5.1 although it is only really used for watching BT Sports channels - and they seem to have problems if the box is set to 2.0.

@nickking24  Hi there. The BT Pro Box, in most parts is good.  But the 5.1 sound issue is terrible, it has been acknowledged by BT, but they do not seem interested in fixing. They still advertise it as being Dobly /5.1 capable, which it is, but it doesn't automatically switch according to content, which all my previous boxes (and Apple TV do).  Very poor on BT's side.

Went to check for you via that link, but you have to be using the smart hub or or it fails.

Re: BT TV Box Pro - comments/questions

I have no issues using the Hub 6. BT did try a replacement (not so) Smart Hub 2 but behaved the same so went back to the (more smarter) Hub 6.

I require Wifi band splitting here - so the Hub 2 is no use.

Ookla speedtest will give good results for the speed check in this case.

Re: BT TV Box Pro - comments/questions

I use https://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/test-result.html?id=402963388

When I checked with the BT box on s/by it was 35 Mb/s (should be 45).
When I switched on Sky sports (Now TV) on the box it was 24 Mb/s
I checked by switched Freeview 001 (BBC1), and it was back to 35 Mb/s.
So no real conclusion here.
Sorry.

Re: BT TV Box Pro - comments/questions

That is what I would expect to see and similar to what I get.

The issue I see is that (say) tomorrow morning the speed will be back to 24Mb/s but the tv box is still in standby.

Then switching the box on and back to standby would restore to 35 Mb/s.

Sorry, I missed the "2" on that post, agree, the lack of band splitting was a major issue for me too, unfortunately my Smart Hub didn't have a WAN port so I'm using my old 5.

Re: BT TV Box Pro - comments/questions

New software available with a couple of new features - https://support.youview.com/youview-box/software-updates/bt-software-update-4-0-220-0-5-252/

No mention of any fixes for the known issues.

Has the sound issue been fixed yet? It's so quiet and getting more annoying I have to turn my volume up to 60 for a decent sound level.

@Tcuk31

I don't believe it's even been acknowledged as an issue.

Re: BT TV Box Pro - comments/questions

It's getting silly now. I basically no longer using the BT box unless I have to, instead I use the Freeview tuner in my TV as it sends audio into my amp correctly and my amp then upmixes where required. I'm definitely not renewing my contract as I've had enough of this box and it's nuances now, BT have had long enough to fix but don't seem bothered.
