Can your order get cancelled after you've been given a service start date?

Hello,

I just recently moved to a new flat, checked the address on a few different providers' websites and saw fibre was available at the new address before moving. After ringing them all up, NowTV cancelled my order and said the cabinet was full, TalkTalk said it wasn't available, and Vodaphone's order process just didn't work.

I thought I would try BT to see if this was any different, so I used the Broadband Availability Checker and saw VDSL Range A/B, does this mean fibre is available? I also checked through the OpenReach website which mentions "Superfast Fibre is available at your address. Up to 80Mb/s." which sounds promising.

My order went through  and I've been given a "service start date", does this mean that fibre is available and will be connected? Or is just an automated email that comes through when you place your order?

My contract doesn't begin until Dec 1st, so I am worried it's going to get cancelled, and I'll be stuck with an ADSL connection, which is just not good enough for working from home.

If anyone has any ancecdotes or more information, that would be resassuring! If ASDL is the only type of connection available, I definitely would not have moved here.

Does the checker say 'Available' or waiting list for VDSL?

If you post a screenshot of the checker result we can check if you are not sure.

Thank you for taking the time to read/respond.

I think so, It says available in the last two columns, I've attached a screen dump anyway.Screenshot 2021-11-23 163206.png

Haven't you had an email confirmation of your order which should then detail what you can expect?

Yes, I did, but I received the same email from another provider too, only for it to be cancelled shortly after. I was just looking for some anecdotes really as another provider mentioned not having space in the "LU".

No idea why the other providers were not able to offer service, there is availability in the cabinet.

Thanks licquorice, that's reassuring. Cheers for taking the time out of your day to answer an anonymous person's question.
