Hi
have set up a new website for a local charity on Linux hosting (won’t mention hosting company) after provisioning couldn’t access the site using any device ( iOS or win 10) on my network Wi-Fi or Ethernet (error 404 and nginx under the 404 )
Could access the site solely via mobile data
so cleared every cache flushed DNS, changed DNS servers reset networking - still no joy
tried via VPN - bingo site accessed
so reset router to obtain a new IP address ( a new one was allocated) - no joy
Ran my VPN and site seen
I can access any other site without the VPN
the hosting company flatly denies they’re blocking the site which seems logical, so the only assumption I can make is somehow BT is blocking that particular website IP address
does anyone have any ideas on how to get BT to unblock a specific address please ?
thanks in advance
Solved! Go to Solution.
It could be a DNS issue - what is the website address?
thanks for replying
or do you want the IP address ?
it’s fine with VPN ( set as UK location) turned on
turned off no access no matter what browser I use including freshly downloaded and installed opera
On my PC using google dns servers no problem, on my iphone using OpenDNS (from my router) can't get it but over BT 4G no problem.
Any help?
Hmmmm
even weirder than my access
4G yes
anything via router unless using VPN No, tried google DNS on my Ethernet adapter yesterday - no joy
can try again later
Looks like a DNS error somewhere ☹️ But such a weird one
Looks as if dns in HH6 is permanent
thanks - will keep trying - concerning that OpenDNS isn’t working
Using BT here it is not found - but works fine on VirginMedia.
It’s definitely a BT problem, just had a neighbour ( Bt isp) check the site and they’re getting the 404 message
BT please fix
@Unbelievable For your site I get "An invalid set of parameters has been specified in the url."
The link in the post isn't a direct link to the site in question
@Unbelievable But when I type the address myself I get there. formbycivicsociety.org.uk
