Do we have fibre access or not?

Hi everyone,

Really wasn’t sure where else to post this and should be a fairly straightforward question - do we have the option to connect fibre or not. We currently have truly awful copper broadband and after an openreach (landline) engineer visited today due to a problem he told us we have fibre on the pole that supplies the property. I checked it myself and sure enough it has a prysmian junction box of sorts and a “fibre overhead” written on the pole. Do the results below indicate we can get fibre? Whenever we’ve tried in the past it doesn’t seem possible with any ISP though.

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

The Stop Sale date for IPstream is from 31 Oct 2013. The Formal Retirement date for IPstream is from 30 Jun 2014.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

Re: Do we have fibre access or not?

The checker indicates that you don't have access to FTTP.

FTTPoD is an entirely different and extremely expensive product aimed at business users.

Re: Do we have fibre access or not?

Checker shows you do have access to FTTC which is faster than your current adsl2

Re: Do we have fibre access or not?

Thanks, from other posts on the forum I came to the conclusion that the pole which has the fibre running to it might just be for on demand but I assume the DSL checker results confirm that?

Re: Do we have fibre access or not?

Hmmm that is surprising, whenever we’ve tried to chose any fibre service with an ISP it allows us to choose it as an option but won’t actually activate!
