FTTC dropped connection and DLM kicked in and reduced speeds down to 4mbps

I've noticed an issue with my connect recently and that it keeps dropping every few hours and it was enough to get the DLM to reduce my connection down to 4mbps.

Re: FTTC dropped connection and DLM kicked in and reduced speeds down to 4mbps

Have you checked for line noise. Dial 17070 option 2 should be silent and best with corded phone

have you tried using test socket with filter to see if that helps stability

which master do you have

Re: FTTC dropped connection and DLM kicked in and reduced speeds down to 4mbps

I've had a listen on 17070 and it sounded like a Geiger counter with the crackling on the line. I have the Master Socket 5C and I haven't tested it on the test socket yet.

Re: FTTC dropped connection and DLM kicked in and reduced speeds down to 4mbps

If the master is the one where the face clips on and not held by screws then check it is clipped tightly as there have been posts where it was causing problems as not fully clipped

if you can still hear the noise in test socket then need to report phone fault to 151

Calling using the test socket seems to fine though there is a low faint hum but no crackling

Re: FTTC dropped connection and DLM kicked in and reduced speeds down to 4mbps

A dull hum is normal using a cordless phone but not for corded phone

i would try using test socket with filter for a period and see if that stabilises your line

Reseating the master socket removed the crackling though it has a low hum similar to with the test socket though louder, I'm using a corded phone

I'm now using the test socket with a DSL filter on it, will report back in a few days to let you know how it goes

If you have any noise using a corded phone from the test socket then there is a line problem which you need to be rectified.

Using the test socket hasn't made much of a difference, still getting disconnected
