Hi,
I live in a new build house (2 years old) and currently have broadband from BT via a copper phone line. On our estate we've done the funding to get gigabit internet installed by Openreach via the government funding option.
I've been informed that fibre will be run to the front of the estate and then when I sign up for full fibre, a fibre optic cable will be run from the front of the estate to my house. This sounds a little strange to me as I would have expected Openreach to install the fibre optic cable to all the premises and not just to the front of the estate. Is this correct?
Also, how long does it take for this to be installed?
Solved! Go to Solution.
You will need to ask Openreach, this is a BT retail forum.
Ok, thank you for the response.
I only asked in case someone had any information on this.
They would install Fibre to the CBT, Connectorised Block Terminal, aka FTTP DP. Usually these will be within 30-60m of your house.
Then when you order FTTP they’ll pull a single fibre from that CBT to your house.
Whoever said they’ll just put it to the front of the housing estate clearly doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
