Hello i wonder if some body can give us some advice
as this issue has been going on for nearly 6 years.
and has never been fixed yet.
when ever there is a incoming phone call from a person be it house phone or cell phone calling, there voice is very low
you can hardly hear what they are saying at the end of the line.
and have to ask them to speak up.
up to now we changed the phone 4 times using different brands and bt brand phones
same issues changed the router for a new one same issues.
had a new bt socket put in same issues.
we had a engineer out and he said there was a fault at the main box in the village.
but this issue still remains the same and is not fixed.
is there anything bt can do alter the line gain at the exchange or boost the signal for incoming calls
to make the voice come in louder.
we did a line test and there is no crackle or hissing at all.
this Tuesday we got a engineer coming back out to check again.
but to this day incoming calls you can not hear the person on the other end of the line.
has anyone got this fixed.
thank you for your help
Hi @dave1011 and welcome back.
I'm sorry you're still having problems with the incoming calls. Hopefully the engineer will get be able get it sorted this time. Please post back and let us know how you get on.
Cheers
David
Hi david had the engineer came out and he did a line check and says nothing is wrong with the line at all.
everything is in the limits was here for over 1 hour.
been warned that if they come back out they will charge £285 call out fee.
we are now going to try a voice amplifier phone just bought tonight.
both parents and young say the incoming voice calls coming in are very low.
people can hear me perfect.
but you can hardly hear them.
any advice on this matter
thank you
Hi @dave1011, thanks for posting back with an update from the visit.
Did you get a chance to test the phone yourself whilst the engineer was on site and if so was the volume ok at that time?
cheers
John
the call you can talk perfect no problem.
but when you get a call there voice is very low.
im thinking its the main wire of the phone line.
the engineer was a joke came up with lots of excuses
saying its your internet home plugs.
basically the engineer was talking pure garbage.
and saying if we come out again your get billed for the call out.
the system is old and needs replacing and is not fit for purpose.
is there a way to turn up the line gain on the phone.
the engineer said it is a wire they replace at the exchange but again is he tell the truth.
How many phone sockets do you have around the house? Have you tried a known working corded phone in the test point of your main phone socket? This will eliminate any problems with your Internal wiring which may be causing your problems
So you tried the internal test point of the master socket?
Thanks for posting back @dave1011
I'm really sorry for the problems you're having with incoming calls.
I have sent you a private message with instructions on how you can send us over your details and we'll look into this for you. See: Private messages
