Hi The BT speedtest says my speed is Ok at 7.9Mbs but Fibre is supposed to be around 30Mbs, is this speed in fact too slow and should I be trying to get something done about it? Thanks.
welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
that speed may be slow or may not depending on your connection speed
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
enter your phone number and post results remember to delete number https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
speed is very low can you check for a dial tone on your landline
Does you phone have dial tone? It looks like one wire has become disconnected, broadband will work very slowly on one wire but you need both to get dial tone on your phone.
Hi yes there is a dial tone, but the quiet line test definitly isn't quiet at all.
Then you need to report a noisy line fault, don't mention broadband speed. Once the problem causing the noise is fixed, your broadband will improve.
Then report a phone fault to 151 not broadband. Get noise problem fixed and broadband will improve nearer your attainable speed
