Re: Fibre to the premises

If there is a fibre cable that in effect leaves the pole in the photo and transits the pole outside your home on route to somewhere else, then that cable is of no use to you as it cannot be broken into.

In the photo, the things on the the left is copper infrastructure, on the right can be seen a couple of anti creep devices , the fibre dropwires around these presumably serve property’s that have already took FTTP service , and the clamp of a ‘node’ can also be seen...not seen , but presumably present is a CBT , not all poles have CBT’s , so this pole may be used as the starting point , other poles just used as a ‘feeder’ or carrier poles. The pole closer to you may have it’s own CBT ( connectorised block terminal ) or may just be a feeder /carrier pole ,  perhaps you can post a photo of the pole outside your home.

Your original post was about what extra infrastructure would be needed , anyone in this forum can offer nothing more than speculative opinion,  if you wanted you could go down the FTTPod route  ( although BT Consumer don’t offer it others do ) , that would get OR to do an initial desk survey of what’s required to extend the close by FTTP infrastructure to you home, it could also correct any error should you already be capable of service  ( in other words the OR planner indicates FTTP is already available to your home )

If you cannot have native FTTP, the construction costs of FTTPod could be modest , but your service would be via whatever ISP arranges the service, and that isn’t going to be the cheapest monthly fee, but after the initial term, you can switch to any ISP that uses OR FTTP at native FTTP prices.

Re: Fibre to the premises

@rpatterson51

Fibre does go from the pole in the image to the pole next to my house and away on down the road.

Does the pole outside your house have a CBT (Connectorised Block Terminal)  on it like the one in this picture.

If so you have half a chance of getting a result going through the correct channels.

If not post up what the checker is telling you but erase your details before posting it.
