Hi
We ordered Full Fibre 900 yesterday as it's just become available at our address.
We don't use the existing master phone socket as it doesn't have power anywhere near it and it's in an odd location in our living room. We use a secondary phone socket in our dining room as it has power next to it and it's hidden away.
When the engineer visits is he/she going to want to put the new equipment by the existing master phone socket which isn't an option for us or will he/she be able to run the fibre externally to come in to our dining room so the equipment is in the same location as now?
Thanks
Mozej
Yes, they can install the ONT where you like within reason and it doesn’t have to go by the existing NTE.
@mozej We live in old farmhouse, the fttp was installed from pole in field to gable end of house.I had pre drilled wall and ran a continuous 15mm white plastic water pipe as conduit(no joins) with fishwire to a bedroom where everything was installed, socket provided as well. The guys were well pleased,no need for access to roofspace.Old phoneline still runs in copper but we dont use this as all calls are via mobile
Hi
Thanks for your reply.
Will the fibre arrive at our property in the "T" box?
Thanks
Mozej
It would usually come in through that T Box, yes.
They can run it through that then extend the feed through your property along skirting boards if the distance isn't too long.
They may also be able to run it round the outside if your property to an entry point of your choosing, within reason.
It all comes down to the engineer who comes to install it and whether they intend on installing an external CSP (customer Splice Point) which is a grey box that contains 2 lengths of fibre joined together.
What you want doesn't sound too unreasonable. Engineers are usually pretty flexible with location of the ONT/fibre modem.
