This problem has been going on for months..... I make a call, or even receive a call, and many times I can hear a person talking to someone else in the background. It's clear enough that I can follow what she's saying (and it's nearly always a woman) - I've heard her booking take away meals - talking to an elderly chap (yes I can hear both sides of the call) - and a bloke complaining about not receiving spare parts for his motor cycle. I've asked around our village but I can't locate the person, assuming she's local of course.
What concerns me is that if I can hear her from time to time (and I can't make her hear me) I wonder if anyone else can hear my calls. I'm worried about security - especially if I have to ring my bank for example and go through security details.....
Any ideas.........

Have you reported the problem to BT, as your line could be in contact with another one?
It needs to be sorted, as it could be a security issue.
just trying to do that now

have you tried to talk to them to see whether they can hear you , if they can ask where they are .it will help when you report it
The reason for hearing other callers is that there is a fault on the line, its called battery or earth condition caused through a wet joint underground or can be overhead if there are multiple lines on same cable....ie if line goes through a tree that has rubbed
Yes I have - and they can't hear me - even if I shout... LOL
