Hi All,
I’ve been having problems with my fttc internet for ages and it’s getting worse. I’ve had 3 engineers visit me and each time they can’t find any faults. I think the longest it’s been up for is 5 days and that’s a record. I’d probably be happier if it stayed up for 5 days more often. Anyway the hub has gone orange etc 5 times in the last 2 hours alone. I’ve stated noting the date and time of the issue.
I do have an open fault but it’s just not going anywhere and I’m at my wits end.
Before anyone suggests test socket etc the engineers have all tried this etc.
Thanks
Gavin
Is it just you or are your neighbours also having problems?
If it's just you, does it get worse in wet or damp weather and is the feed overhead or underground?
If it's just you and it gets worse in wet or damp weather and the feed is overhead, have they changed the dropwire?
i had a similar problem when i moved to fttc and as being an engineer myself i knew the line was ok i was given a hub 5 at the time and after installing it ,it would drop sync all the time for weeks and if it did stay in sync it was only for 4-5 days so i tried 2 more hub 5's and all the same , finally i tried a but 6 (smart hub ) and hey presto no more drop outs . if it did drop out it was in the middle of the night and only about once a month and all was well for years until last week when it blew to to storm ,bt sent replacement and all is rosie again
may be interference from something electrical i.e. faulty streetlamp ,xmas lights too close to phone cable, old tv .have a look at this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-54239180
This is what the by engineer said hence why it’s so hard to track the problem down.
If you suspect there is something interfering with your broadband, get an AM/MW radio and tune it to 612KHz.
https://kitz.co.uk/adsl/rein.htm this covers a lot of problems . as an ex engineer i had a job that the entire street was having problems and with my trusty radio ( and a co-worker with meter ) i traced the interference to the local schools massive satellite dish and after talking to the headmaster got the i.t. guys out and after a lot of head scratching and turning things off and on found exactly what was causing it
I'll have to see if I can borrow a radio lol. I'll try anything tbo. Thks for the suggestion.
