I would take it on face value.

It’s asking to to subscribe....Too good to be true, I think.

Don’t know who the sender is, and probably BG don’t know either. Or if they do, you don’t get anything for nothing!

Thanks @Ribblelancs . I agree with you.So did one of the Moderators in a PM to me about another matter. I've asked him if he can ask someone in BT to block / delete the BT email address used.

Hi @Taffy078, we can't block email addresses. Have a look at this information on Protecting Yourself From Email Scams for advice on what to do with these types of email.

cheers

@Will168 Sorry to remove your laughter but you clearly haven't read or understood my post. Nowhere did I say that it was sent from a gmail address. I wanted some sanctions taken again the idiot who sent it to me because he/she has a bt email address.

If you read it again, you'll see a very helpful reply from a Moderator who's explained why they cannot take any action against the idiot who sent it to me. ;o)

That doesn't seem to square with this in your original post:

@Taffy078 No offence was intended and I was not trying to be unhelpful. I just thought that if someone was trying to impersonate someone from British Gas, that they would try harder than sending it from a Gmail account.

It looked from your original post that the BG imposter was using a Gmail account and that you, the receiver were the btinternet email user, as highlighted by @pottyperson post.

I'm glad you were able to get a helpful and hopefully satisfactory response to your query.

Sorry to keep on about this topic.

But to be fair to British Gas, they do offer sales/ rewards promotions...However they do also give a very clear message for the user to opt out of these email notifications, if required.
