Landline master socket line in ID

Go to solution

into the master socketinto the master socketthrough a hole drilled at the bottom of wallthrough a hole drilled at the bottom of wallcable from celing close up (2).jpg

So the cable comes down from the ceiling from dont know where, through a drilled hole in the wall and into the master socket.  Is this the main line in?  I would like to remove it but dont really know whether its just an extension.  I only moved in recently and the previous owner did not use a landline.  Help please?  Many thanks

@CalamityJane7

Who is providing your phone and broadband service, as they will be the ones who will ask Openreach to visit, and sort out any issues with the master socket wiring?

Hi, its Vodafone. I would like to determin if the cable from the ceiling is the main cable in as if not I will just cut it off. If I get BT out I would be charged loads just to possibly be told I can cut it off. The BT line in cable actually comes in underground according to my nieghbour so odd to have it hanging down the wall.

Then its Vodaphone you need to deal with, as this is a BT Retail customer forum.

Its Openreach that visit, not BT. You will need to explain to Vodaphone that the master socket wiring is a mess, so they can make sure you get a visit from Openreach.

Vodaphone have their own user forum, so you would need to ask any more questions there.
