I am getting really annoyed at BT OVER THIS… Many parts of the country cannot get higher speeds….  If it is two licences for everyone, then they need to tell us directly, so we can make provisions.

The change was from Mcafee to Norton, Fibre 1 includes 2 licenses, F2 and Halo includes 15 licenses, what package do you have ?

Also could you be in a similar situation to JohnG who had a package that included more and they were activated when they qualified, after a downgrade you can't activate any more.

Re: Licences on BT Virus Protect NOT SOLVED

Hi Richie,

Thanks for your advice… it is appreciated, I am Fibre with Halo 1… this is the fastest I can get in my area, so cannot upgrade to faster broadband. When checking, I am now using 4 licences and one other for android phone ( so 5 in all I think).  So how many do you think I will have in April. It appears from what you say, that Mcafee will not be taken off the additional 3: but would they all be able to transfer to Norton or not? As mentioned before, I did price up packages for Norton, which are FAR cheaper than additional prices quoted in the new BT adverts. So I am soooo confused by this.  Presumably when you renew your contract for Broadband, the BTVP will revert to the lowest allocation?  So thanks for any advice!

Thanks Richie for clearing that up.

It's just very annoying I was never told that I was getting downgraded or that the licence numbers changed from 15 to 2. I was only told on renewal that the name had been changed but everything else remained the same. Certainly if I was downgraded without my knowledge then the price did not reflect it lol.

Even looking now on "my BT" I cannot see where it informs you that only two licences are now available.

Thanks for your time looking into this for me.

Halo includes 15 licenses, I'm 99% sure but might be wrong.

@JohnG  your situation is different to the normal, about 3 years back existing customer had upgrades, we're still a few months away from the Mcafee switch off, sit tight for now and see what happens, if there are issues they will be sorted out, anything you're entitled to won't change, if MyBT shows 15 licenses then it might just be a glicth stopping you moving and if so it will be known and a fix pushed out.

Thanks Richie, will wait and see what happens next. Just annoying that it did delete McAfee from my 3rd device then refused to install Norton leaving the computer unprotected. Poor programming, to say the least, that allows this situation to happen
