Re: Massive difference between Ethernet and Wifi

Yes, but it would be a better test to eliminate the hub entirely.

Re: Massive difference between Ethernet and Wifi

TBH would this be suitable to use?

tp-link archer ax6000.

We would switch Wifi off on HH2 and only use this for phone then the above for Wifi in house as BT dont seem to have a clue.

So testing directly to ONT get 500Mbps wifi and 1.1Gbps ethernet.

It seems that something is affecting the HH2 Wifi but without switching every light, plug heating etc I dont think it will be easy to find out

Which brings me back to a factory reset but no one seems to be listening.

Think about it, the Netgear works fine, the SH2 is working under the same conditions but doesn't work fine.

Do I really need to spell it out?

Sorry I have done so much forgot to say I have reset the hub

In that case, I would say that the SH2 is U/S and a replacement would certainly prove it one way or the other

Re: Massive difference between Ethernet and Wifi

They are sending replacement Monday so will see if not it could be interference but tbh we have checked most things that may be used in evening and live in the sticks so no interference from neighbours

Re: Massive difference between Ethernet and Wifi

I really would suggest unplugging the hub from the mains and just connect the Netgear directly to the ONT.

You need to enter PPPoE username of bthomehub@btbroadband.com and password BT

Re: Massive difference between Ethernet and Wifi

If it is electrical interference and you've only get this problem with the SH2 then that would suggest a problem with the decoupling capacitors /filters in the SH2 or its DC power supply.

If that is the case then replacement of both should clear the problem

Re: Massive difference between Ethernet and Wifi

Unfortunately the Netgear doesn’t allow PPoE to be entered.

Will wait for SH2 replacement on Monday then if no joy will look for a decent Wifi6 WAN router

Re: Massive difference between Ethernet and Wifi

Netgear Nighthawk routers support PPPoE, many people use them in place of Home Hubs. Which exact model is it?
