Re: Mitel Office IP Phone DHCP Discovery Issue

My order shows download speed is 11mbps and upload is 1mbps, I spoke to a woman yesterday who has given me a static IP address for my router that is plugged into the cabinet with a splitter in the wall which was 81.137.228.122.

I’ll happily order the third party router if you think that will solve the problem?

I know this is out of your scope and I really appreciate your help! I really do! Has been so hard speaking to someone about this as no one seems to understand.

Re: Mitel Office IP Phone DHCP Discovery Issue

Sorry I’m not very helpful I have no idea what I was on with EE as it wasn’t in my name so I wasn’t involved in purchasing it🙁

So if it would be a router issue would getting that third party router solve it?

Re: Mitel Office IP Phone DHCP Discovery Issue

If you wanted to use the one plugged into the wall, then that would be a VDSL connection, and you could use a cheap VDSL router like this one which costs about £35. Argos usually stocks it. (572/8882)

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/dsl-modem-router/td-w9970/

It plugs into the same place, and has a setup wizard where you can specify the type of connection. This can also be used on the other modem connection if that is preferred, as it can operate in both modes.

The static IP address can be specified within the setup, but you would still need the login details.

This is the one I use, and am most familiar with. Its also popular with other users. Its really simple once you have all the details, and I have not come across any issues with DHCP.

This would not work if you have an ultrafast (G.fast) connection.

Re: Mitel Office IP Phone DHCP Discovery Issue

I may get one thank you so much!

My broadband is Superfast Enhanced will that work with it? And how do I find out all of my log in details please?

Also are they simple to set up once you have the log in details? 🙂

Not heard of that product, perhaps its a business product?

What speed is it supposed to be?

Provided your VDSL connection is 80Mbs or below, then is most likely a standard VDSL connection.

As for your login details, that used to be provided with your order confirmation, it used to be a btconnect format, however its possible that BT Business are doing things differently, as that was a long time ago now. Its not something that anyone here could help with.

If you are sure its just a standard VDSL connection, then that TP Link router should work, provided you have the required details.

Re: Mitel Office IP Phone DHCP Discovery Issue

what is my internet speed - Google Search.png

This is my internet speed so the VDSL connection is below 30mbps, it is also connected via copper wire into the cabinet so sounds like the router you have suggested I get would work?

I have a username in the format firstname.surname@btconnect.com and a password I have set if that is all the details I need?

That could either be a VDSL or an ADSL connection, but I would suspect an ADSL connection, owing to the poor upload speed, which may give you upload issues, which is possibly why you were offered a direct fibre connection.

That router would work with either connection, and with the login details provided.

What may help to determine your connection type is this.

Enter your phone number into this form and display the results here, but edit out your phone number before you post the results.

Re: Mitel Office IP Phone DHCP Discovery Issue

The test results show you are only on an ADSL connection, not VDSL, which I would not recommend that you use, as the slow upload speed is likely to give you a lot of issues with IP phones, especially if you are trying to send email with attachments. The VDSL upload speed would be better, so I am puzzled why you have been put on ADSL, unless that has changed since the test date of 19th February 2020.

There is no mention about the direct fibre connection, which is odd? If you have that, and its working, then it would be a better option.

Is there something like this installed in your house?

Or this

Its certainly worth trying the TP Link router, as it should work on your existing connection, which is now possibly VDSL.

Re: Mitel Office IP Phone DHCP Discovery Issue

the engineer that came yesterday plugged both of my routers in so one is in the open reach socket and the other in the one next to it. The results I just send are from the one that is in the wall with the splitter not the open reach socket if that makes sense? I need to figure out which one I need to return to BT.

I am unable to send a picture of the sockets on my wall as the file is too big 😞 but I do have that open reach socket yes
