No Internet Secured on my Microsoft Surface laptop, trying to connect to BTHub6 WiFi

Go to solution

Hi everybody

Nothing I have done will make my Microdsoft Surface connect to my BTHub6. I am stuck on "No Internet Secured"

So far I have...

Disabled my VPN (AVG)

  • Turned off my Antivirus and Firewall (AVG Internet Security) - back on now because it made no difference
  • Refreshed the IP configuration
  • Reset Winsock
  • Checked connection properties and confirmed that the following are checked...
    - Client for Mocrosoft Networks
    - File & Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks
    - TCP/IPv4
    - TCP/ IPv6
    - Link- layer Topology Discovery Responder
(some other options were enabled so I disabled them but reabled them when it made no difference)
  • Disabled TCP/IPv6 (and re-enabled it becuase it made no difference)
  • Updated driver for my network device, which is Marvel AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller (no update found)
  • Disabled network driver, rebooted and re-enabled
  • Deleted and reinstalled network driver
  • Rebooted my BTHub6 many times along the way
  • Performed a factory re-set on the BTHub6
  • A wired ethernet connertion from the Hub to a secondary WiFi sender in another part of my property which is out of range of BTHub6 works perfectly with the laptop in question.
  • Windows Network Diagnostics cannot find a problem

I am completely out of ideas.

Your help would be appreciated

Mark

Thank you.

The problem escalated. All of a sudden , all but one or two of my wi-fi connected devices stopped working or produced an error message along the lines of Connected-No Internet.

My first call to BT TEch Support led them to splt my 2.4 and 5GHz band. Didn't work

After an second hour or so on the phone to BT Tech Support (a lovely lady in Cardiff I was sent a new Hub - a Smart Hub 2

Same problem only worse. Previously my Apple devices had still connected, but no longer.

After waiting 30 mins unanswered for a further tech support call I turned off Smart Setup on the new router and hey presto! After everything had been rebooted, it worked.

Thanks to the person who answered my call for help with that advice.

NB connecting a ranger extender (TP-Link) to the BT Hub didnt work (until Smart Setup had been disabled)

You did, but at the same time BT interrogated my system without suggesting it (or maybe it was already off on the old hub which may have been broken anyway since all this just suddenly stopped working and I hadn’t turned Smart Setup back on(.

Anyway, thanks.

Merry Xmas
