today I was asked to enter my password when I went to access my btinternet.com email via Outlook on Android, Samsung S21+.
I went to webmail and logged on OK, I changed my password, and went back to Outlook on my mobile.
I enter new password and check IMAP and SMPT ports are correct. It won't log on and I get
Log-in error. Unable to add account, server address not valid.
I tried to report for Outlook App help and get:
You're seeing an error because of an issue with your email provider's certificate ....
In order to resolve this issue, please contact your email provider ... Notify them that the server identity and trust chain listed in your provider's SSL certificate does not march the domain your connecting to.
Please note Outlook Mobile Support will not be able to assist with resolving this issue.
I can now, (couldn't first thing) access email via Outlook on my PC.
Please help, I'm lost without email on my mobile at the moment ...
thank you, Alison
What server and ports are you using?
Server?
SMTP should be 465 or is that a typo?
Sorry, it's a typo - yes - 465
Not sure what you mean by server - I'm using Outlook for Android, today accessing the network via by BT Broadband ....
thank you
The server where you checked the port numbers. It should be mail.btinternet.com, also ensure SSL is selected for the ports. Make sure secure password authorisation ISN'T selected.
Same problem here, all well until this afternoon, then nothing doing. Login command goes to a screen with everything other than password autofilled. Tried countless times to log in, getting "Log-in Error: unable to add account, server address is not valid" each time.
Have also tried resetting the a/c with same result.
Perhaps outlook updated automatically? I've read that this can cause problems, but don't know how to fix
