My elderly mother has a bt 3880 answer phone and multiple handsets bought at Xmas. Over last few weeks and more often last few days when somebody calls her during mid conversation the caller gets a melody on their phone and mum's cuts out. Caller hangs up radials but mum engaged she says though I haven't seen it her handset shows intercom and she can't resume call. After hanging up after a few minutes it works OK again, I made adjustments to ring volume two weeks ago and I am wondering whether I have made an incorrect setting , has anybody heard of this before please ?

I'm sorry for the problems you're Mum is having with her BT3880 phone. Your best bet would be to have a word with product support. You can get their details on the >> BT3880 user guide << and I have included them below for your own convenience.
If your phone is within warranty:
