I appreciate that this is an old thread but I have a very similar question.
I am about to switch to BT and I will have a BT Smarthub 2. I already have a Tenda MW6 mesh with 3 nodes. The Tenda Mesh works very well but only with my Virgin router wifi turned OFF.
Can you confirm please, with a BT router, can I simply set the first Tenda node to 'Bridge mode' (AP mode) and that's it? Nothing else to do?
If that is the case, I presume that the BT Smarthub 2 handles the DHCP and the Tenda nodes will simply 'pass on the messages'. Is that correct or will I need to reset anything else?
My Virgin router caused multiple problems when set up that way, which is why I turned its wifi OFF.
Thanks Keith. I will let you know if I have any problems.
Its best to turn off the Wifi on the BT Hub, so it does not interfere with the Tenda. I have the MW3 mesh, with a TP Link router on BT ADSL, in bridge mode.
The MW6 should pick up the new IP subnet from the HH6 DHCP server.
You can operate the MW6 in router mode, provided you do not mind a separate subnet and double NAT.
It would be best to disable Smart Setup on the home hub, as that can cause lots of problems.
