Brilliant engineer has sorted me out. Here's what he's told me:
'The fibre port has gone funny ... blocked for some reason ... a software issue in the DSLAM ... '
So he moved me to a different one and reported it for investigation.
He says it wasn't stolen. It would be interesting to know what the investigations finds.
Anyway, I'm off to watch the new Star Trek 🙂

It may be interesting but you won't be told the result, nor will BTRetail. Openreach will investigate and bring the port back online (or replace the card) for the next customer.
