Receiving calls from people saying I called them, but I haven’t!

How come the start of the number it called is the same as mine though? It’s weird. Literally the first 7 numbers

That is because the scammers think it is more likely people will answer a call from an exchange they recognise than something random.  They change the digits to match the circumstances.

Used to happen to me a lot until I installed a call blocker, these are mostly pretty good at squashing the nonsense.

When it happened to you was the first 6-7 digits the same numbers in the same order as yours then? It was only the last 3 numbers that was different to mine.

Hi, for any potential call spoofing problems (where you receive calls from people saying you've called, but you haven't), please reach out to our Nuisance Calls Bureau (NCB) team on 0800411422. The team are available Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 5 pm.

They’ll be able to investigate the problem for you.
