Re: Router Upgrade from BT SmartHub 2 to a different one

Hello again @licquorice,

Apart from avoiding the Netgears due to lack of IPv6, they will all be suitable. Only you know what WiFi speed you need and whether it is worth paying extra for the extra speed bearing in mind unless you are using the WiFi purely within your LAN, the governing speed will be the speed of your broadband connection.

OK so basically don't bother getting the NETGEAR D7000-200UKS VDSL modem / router? What about the rest of them will any of them be any good. My WiFi speed is 66.969mbps and upload is 20mbps.

What would you highly recommended @licquorice?

Recommending routers is like recommending cars. They all do the same job, any recommendation is personal preference. I would recommend a TP Link device but @TimCurtis  would recommend an Asus, both entirely suitable. You still haven't said why you want to move from using a BT hub, if you specify the features that the BT hub lacks and you require it might help narrow the choice.

Well I am the paying customer so I should be able to change from the ISP's router, there is more settings on a third-party VDSL modem / router. I just fancy a change that's all @licquorice so if you help me decide which one I would be landed & happy 😃.

You have already been given advice regarding which one will be suitable especially as your reason for doing away with the BT hub is because you "fancy a change" . It is up to you to decide which one to buy. Nobody can make that decision for you.

Hello again @gg30340,

Yes but I don't know which to choose though mate 🤔@licquorice @TimCurtis said "Forget Netgear as they don't implement BT's version of IPv6" now I need the IPv6 & Dual-band Wireless.

Hello again @gg30340,

But I don't know which one to choose 😫. That's why I'm asking for help before buying the wrong VDSL modem / router.

None of them are "wrong". They will all work.

Hello again @gg30340,

Thank you! But will it work with BT's IPv6 and will the signal be perfect.
