Scam?

I have had this email below, is it a scam?

Dear Btinternet User

We emailed you last month to let you know about changes we are making to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy These changes are key steps towards creating what's next for our consumers, like you, while empowering them with transparency and controls over how and when their data is used.

You can learn more about what these policies mean for you here, as well as more about the changes in our FAQs

In order to continue to access your BT Mail account after March 15th-2021, you will need to confirm you accept the Terms of Service. We also need a few moments of your time to explain how we manage your data and provide you with some choices in relation to the processing of that data.

If you do not want the new Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to apply to you, you will no longer be able to access your account from March 17th-2021. If you would like the contents of your email account, you may obtain a copy of your data by clicking here.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Re: Scam?

Well, it brought a smile to my face but I guess I wasn't supposed to find it so laughable.

Ignore it

Yes, for all 5 links go to the same location! Definitely a scam.

Re: Scam?

My elderly mother has received similar saying that her internet will be cancelled along with repeated phone calls and is extremely distressed. She now no longer knows who is from BT and who isn't. Who at BT helps vulnerable people in situations like this ?

BT have dedicated teams and front line advisors trained to assist with any impairments, have a read at www.bt.com/includingyou

Also as it's your mother, you can also have yourself added as an 'account manager' to help look after the bills, it would allow you to contact BT and speak on her behalf, you can read more info at What's the difference between an Account holder and an Account manager in My BT?

Re: Scam?

Tell your mother that BT will not contact her for anything to do with her Internet and if somebody says they are from BT she should just hang up.
