Smart Hub 2 Only wanting to update 1 out of 2 Dynamic hostnames

Hi all,

I have been experiencing a weird issue for a little while where only 1 dynamic hostname out of 2 is actually having its IP updated.

Both hostnames are with no-ip and the login details are correct. The hostnames are also correct. In a bizarre twist, the hostname 'SOMETIMES' works, but then minutes or hours later it does not.
I have no idea what is happening.

I know I have heavily masked the IP and hostname but its the only one on gameserve.com as my other is ddns.net

Does anyone have a clue as to what might be happening ?

Many thanks.

Re: Smart Hub 2 Only wanting to update 1 out of 2 Dynamic hostnames

I do not use a BT Home hub, but a better option would have been to just update one host name on No-IP using the home hub.

Then you make the second host name a CNAME  (Canonical Name Record or Alias Record) which refers to the first host name and uses that to update its IP address. You do this within your No-IP account.

Unfortunately the CNAME option is only available when you first create a new host name, you cannot amend an existing one, so you would need to create a new one. You can create as many as you are allowed on your account, and they can all use the CNAME option, to refer to host that is updated.

The other option is to run an update client on your PC, if that is what you are using.
