Hi all,
As mentioned above, I've been using two FTTC connections at my home address since December 2019. The idea was to have all smart devices (phones, TVs, Sky box, printers etc.) on our original broadband line, which is with Sky, whilst I used our second line (BT Fibre 1) for online PC gaming.
What I've noticed is that despite having a completely separate network for my gaming PC (BT Fibre 1), if I am to stream YouTube or Netflix on my work PC (Sky), the connection worsens on the gaming PC WITHOUT latency increase or packet loss. By this, I mean bullets just not registering and the mouse cursor becomes less responsive with immediate effect. I've used in-game network monitors for two separate titles yet neither seems to indicate any problem.
My question is: do BT throttle traffic on the second broadband line if the first line is being used, and if so, how can I eliminate this problem? I've attached an image of the two master sockets, which run either side of our Sky cable.
Many thanks in advance,
Rob
Most likely crosstalk, but that's only a guess.
