Two broadbands in one household

does anyone know if you can have two different broadbands in one household?

Yes you can have as many as you want as long as you are prepared to pay for the number of lines you want.

Make sure each company know what you are doing and that you need a new line so that they do not try and take over any line that is already installed and running .
