Using an ethernet cable to connect to PC

Hi,

As we're all after a more stable connection I thought I would get an ethernet cable to plug into my PC in my office and get it connected to the closest phone line box.  This is also in my office, however it is an extension from the main phone box.

I've used a filter (not sure if it's needed anymore) but when I plug in the cable from the PC to the extension box, the phones stop working - an error message on the phone display shows there's no connection, but there's a connection to the PC.

Does anyone know what I should do to get the phones to work whilst the PC is plugged into the extension socket?

Thanks.

Re: Using an ethernet cable to connect to PC

You can't just plug a PC into a phone socket. You can only connect the hub to the phone line and your PC to the hub.
