Why FTTP is not completed ?

Go to solution

Order ************* :-
Since 19th of January 2021 the above job is still not completed. Please give me some reasons for this 3 months long delay.
Many Openreach engineers visited my home and no results ?
Please action this job to a proper engineer who knows the FTTP work.

I have reported the above complaint to MyBT. Is there any thing else that I can do to get my

FTTP working ??

Re: Why FTTP is not completed ?

Hi @GAM23 welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm really sorry about the delay getting your FTTP broadband connected. Openreach delayed most FTTP installs for customers who were getting over 30Mb due to the lockdown to keep customers and engineers safe.  They resumed the installs last month but I understand they're working through a backlog of orders.

As there have been engineer visits to you already, have the fibre team advised you there are engineering issues with the network?

To get an update, I'd recommend speaking directly to the FTTP connections team on 0800 587 4787. They can check with Openreach as to what's happening with your order.

Thanks

Neil

Re: Why FTTP is not completed ?

Hi Neil,

Thanks for your comments. I have been talking to BT Fibre department for couple of weeks, but no luck at all !!!

After reading lots of complaints on the various Fibre Forums, with regards to my current issue which is PON (Passive Optical Network) light is flashing "Green".

I believe, below comments (in Red) may be the solution ? Please let me know your thoughts.

If the PON light is flashing, The ONT is losing the SYNC with the exchange and if the light levels are low at my premises then this will be an On-Going Problem.  I will ask an engineer-out to check the SPLICE and the light levels at the Openreach grey plastic box which is mounted on the wall outside my home, in-case this is an underlying fault.

Disconnect power for the ONT for 30 mins and reboot. Possibly a faulty ONT.

A flashing PON could be due to a number of different reasons.

High Light Loss of -27dBm or more, which itself could be caused by a number of issues, Bad Splice, Dirt/Damage to the SC Connector, A Bad/Faulty Splitter Assembly, Damaged Fibre Cable.

ONT Mismatch.

Faulty ONT.

Connected to Wrong Head End and or Wrong Head End Port.

Profile Build Issue.

Faulty CBT Port where it’s failed to make a connection to the Connectorised End of the fibre cable.

Thank you very much 'Starwire'

For all the valued comments below,

Bad Splice, Dirt/Damage to the SC Connector, A Bad/Faulty Splitter Assembly, Damaged Fibre Cable.

ONT Mismatch.

Faulty ONT.

Connected to Wrong Head End and or Wrong Head End Port.

Profile Build Issue.

Faulty CBT Port where it’s failed to make a connection to the Connectorised End of the fibre cable.

The below are my FTTP problems from day ONE !!

After Openreach installed the ONT and the grey Openreach box outside on the 19th of March and when engineer switched 'ON' the Nokia  (G-010G-Q) ONT the following indicators were observed.

Power Indicator RED (ok) ; LOS (permanently RED) ; PON (No Green Light) and LAN (No Green Light)

This was the beginning of the story of my FTTP issues.

After a week or so Openreach noticed that the damaged Fibre cable between my home and the Exchange. Openreach fixed that and now or since then PON (Green Light Flashing)

Can any one from the BT Community forum pass the above issue / report to some department in Openreach to fix this problem. I have been waiting for a long period now. My next door people got FTTH (home) from Community Fibre Company in London since November 2020 and their FTTH is working fine and their download speed is very steady and about 150Mbps. Why can't Openreach / BT fix my FTTP and moreover, I have been with BT for almost 40 years.

I really appreciate, any comments on the above issues to get my FTTP up & running.

Re: Why FTTP is not completed ?

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for your comments on the above Subject.

Today ; 06/05/2021 at about 10.00 AM Openreach Engineer Fixed the Problem, according to the engineer the issue was at the Fibre Cable underground in the gully, 100 meters away from my home, the cable was not joined properly. Also he mentioned that the fibre cable was "Crossed Wired" may be it is possible a Poor Splicing at the joining of the Fibre Cable. He also mentioned that the underground  networking jobs were carried out by a third party company ???

I believe the third party engineers did not TEST the fibre cable full length after completed the work !!

Power Indicator GREEN (ok) ; LOS (BLANK no light {ok} ) ; PON (Permanently  GREEN Light {ok}  )                                       LAN (Pulsing GREEN Light {ok} )

I have above ONT light indicators on my Nokia Modem.  Just for your records the download speed = 147.33 Mbps and the upload speed = 28.36 Mbps. Thank you Openreach and BT ....  I can close this case NOW !!!
