Wi-fi speed slow

Go to solution

Ever since going into lockdown I have noticed that my broadband speed has decreased dramatically and it is stopping me from getting any work done. My current deal says my normal available speeds should be between 49-50 Mbps and a minimum guaranteed download speed of 46Mbps (or £20 back) but I have been on 10 Mbps for almost 6 weeks now. I've tried resetting it and all the steps suggested but it takes me almost an hour to download an attachment on an email where as before it would be done in seconds. Any suggestions are welcome please.

Re: Wi-fi speed slow

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if  HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

run btspeedtester and post results  must be done with ethernet connection not wireless

https://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/

enter your phone number and post results  remember to delete number   https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

the speeds you quote are all connection speeds as there is no guarantee on download speed

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
