Wifi Problems & Questions

Hey there, Hope you’re having a great day.

I’ve been having constant problems with my wifi speeds not getting up to the quoted minimum of 19Mbs. I’ve tried all the tricks on the website and i’ve had one of the repairmen fix my microfilter socket and that didn’t work, i’ve even switched to using ethernet cables and such and i’m stuck at a loss for getting my stuff to work properly. It sometimes dips in and out of ‘providing wifi’ to then ‘being connected but not providing any wifi’ and on the bt app it says my service is completely fine and that i’m getting the speeds i’m supposed to even though i’m actually not. I don’t know what to do in this situation?

I’ve also had a look at the deals they offer and i’m paying £30+ a month for 19Mbs-36Mbs but on the website it says i can get that for around £26 instead but i’m already in the contract that i can’t change without pay the release. Also the speeds for the price im paying now should be around 40-70Mbs so i feel like i’m not getting my money’s worth nor actually getting the speeds that i should be?

I know it’s a lot and i’m sorry if it sounds angry but i just want to know the best thing for me to do in this situation? Hope you have a good day and stay safe

Re: Wifi Problems & Questions

Hi @AnjelLogan welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm sorry to see your broadband speed is slow.  Can you please post stats from hub? If you have a Home Hub 5 then go to http://192.168.1.254 then go to troubleshooting, helpdesk. If you have a Smart Hub its advanced settings then technical log information enter your phone number and post results.

Also is there any line noise on the line?  You can check that by calling 17070 from your landline and choosing option 2 the call should be silent and its best tried with a corded phone if possible.

Re: Wifi Problems & Questions

@AnjelLogan

the speeds quoted by BT in your correspondence are connection speeds not download or wifi speeds as no ISP guarantees either

can you enter your phone number and post results  remember delete number but leave the exchange and cab number

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

this will show line capabilities
