Over the past two weeks, when I receive a call on my BT phone, the voice at the other end has become very quiet and I have to use loudspeaker. This is a problem because it is not clear & I have a hearing problem. I've only had the phone about 19 months - any ideas please

Which phone is it, and who provides your phone service?

Hi Keith, it's a BT landline
Which BT branded phone is giving the problem?
Have you tried a different phone?
Hi Keith, yes and the sound was OK - I've also reset the handset and it's slightly better but not up to full volume
Thank you for taking an interest
Hi I didn't tell you the model which is 4600
Could the handset volume have been accidentally disturbed? try turning it up during a call
Do you wear a hearing aid or could your hearing be deteriorating?

There is a known issue with this phone, where the sound is slowly lost on the earpiece, but if you select the loudspeaker option, then its fine. This has been reported before, but it always seems happen outside of the guarantee period.
I have three of those handsets, and one of the developed this fault after about two years, so I just use it on the speaker option.
I assume you only have one handset, if so, is it still under guarantee?
Also check the suggestion by @Les-Gibson
Hi Keith, what you've said fits exactly my situation - we've had the phones (2) about 19months so no valid guarantee. We've been using the loudspeaker but as I have hearing aids the sound loses clarity. But I think I'll just replace it with another make.
Many thanks for your help & interest

If its just one phone affected, then you can buy a replacement for £25.99 from Discomm. I would be surprised if both phones are affected.
