BT business smart hub 2 .help

Go to solution

I have just been switch to bt broadband for a business phone line. .

Business smart hub 2. With a Cisco desktop phone .

All working fine

Purchased a by advanced digital home phone with Alexa.  To connect to the business smart hub2 .

Phone registers fine using wps .  But says can't make calls . And that there no internet connection.

Smart hub  WiFi ssid, and network password has been changed so I can identify it easier

It there a compatibly issue with home phones via business smart hub 2?

Tech support on the phone was no help as it was purchased via Amazon and not bt

@Mistermofo

Welcome to the BT Residential Customers forum

As you are a business user, please could you post on the BT Business forum at http://business.forums.bt.com/

I think you will find that the BT Digital Voice phones are not compatible with the Business Smart Hub. I think there is a post about this on the business forum.

Try https://business.forums.bt.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?advanced=false&allow_punctuation=fal...

The phones do not use Wi-Fi, they use DECT transmitted from the BT Smart Hub 2 (Home Version)

As far as I know it's a WiFi phone . Not a dect phone

Registers via wps   and has Alexa.   Just says no internet connection. .

But thanks for the input

The Alexa phone still needs a DECT connection back to the hub to enable calls to be made. As the Business Hub does not support this, the phone will not work.

The WPS button is dual purpose, and is used to register the phone with the DECT base station in the residential hub, and its also used for wireless devices that can be configured using WPS. As you are using Cloud Voice, the phone cannot be used.

There is more information about the BT Digital Voice service on this forum.

Not on the BT Retail Shop but try https://www.businessdirect.bt.com/brands/yealink-1037/telephony,telephones/11206

I think you will find that the Yealink phone are suitable.

Ask on the BT Business Forum.

Can I assume that the DV phone adapter  that ive purchased from BT shop wont either then.

It plugs into mains socket to allows. Use of normal phones.

BT need to let people know what works and what doesn't.

Thx again for the input much appreciated

Re: BT business smart hub 2 .help

Its only for use with the BT Digital Voice service, and needs to be paired with the BT Residential Smart Hub, which needs to have a configured BT Digital Voice service, which would mean that the phone number would show within the hub manager. This is a custom VOIP service for BT Residential customers

So your adapter will not work with your Cloud Voice service as that uses IP phones.
