Hi.
Have recently change internet and phone provider who insisted on having our line updated from copper to fibre. The phone line has been very good/clear - apart from during a power outage, but as expected we made use of a mobile phone.
However, since the update, caller ID on our BT phones hasn't worked. I've spoken to our provider who says everything is enabled at their end for it to work as previously, so assume it could be the phones and maybe we need to upgrade them.
Is this likely ? The phones are: BT8500 Trio Digital Cordless, Item: 078626
Does anyone know if maybe they do not have the capability of displaying the caller ID on a fibre line please?
Thank you in advance.
This is a BT forum for BT phone and broadband customers.
You need to raise this issue on your new providers forum, as the phone should work fine, provided caller id is enabled on their system, which I assume is VOIP.
See this page for product support https://www.bt.com/help/user-guides/phones/landline-phones/cordless-phones-with-answer-machine/bt850...
I saw 'BT Devices'. Apologies and thanks
Maybe ask your provider to disable it & then re-enable. We've seen a few issues here where that was the case, although obviously on a different system. But it categorically isn't the phones.
BT Devices is under the broadband category, and refers to things like BT Whole Home, BT Powerline adapters, and other BT networking devices.
BT customers have a separate category for BT Digital Voice, which is BTs implementation of VOIP.
Phones sold retail under the BT brand, have their own specialist product support teams who`s details are normally printed in the user manual.
