BTWifi/ EE WiFi hotspot on SH3 being concealed

I have noticed that references and actual hardware does not show the customer the status of their Smart Hub 3 being used as a hotspot.

All other past Hubs showed the status whether Active or Not Active.

In my opinion BT has a responsibility of being open to their customers regardless of what the small print says in Terms of Contract.

This is a deliberate concealment.

A moderator gave you appropriate advice and a solution. If you don’t want your router acting as a hotspot, then turn the function off. If you don’t like the way BT operate the router hotspot system, buy your own router or switch ISP.

I had a similar issue years ago when I found people literally sitting on the pavement outside my home leeching off the hotspot. I couldn’t initially work out what was going on until I realised what was happening. It soon came to an end when I disabled it.

@Kimberlin  I started a new thread because the other one was solved which had a different query satisfactorily.

This is a new issue. I’m just pointing out that the customer should be aware whether the Hub is transmitting a hotspot or not and the new SH3 does not confirm either. All previous BT Smart Hubs gave indication whether the BT Wifi (Public WiFi) was Active or not in the Hub Manager pages.

@Dippu  Oh yes, because of course the majority of customers take time out to bother even looking at what their ISP routers do or don’t do🤷‍♂️

I’d wager the vast majority of customers across all ISPs are fairly non plussed about the kit provided to them. The kit is deliberately designed to be plug and play with virtually no customer interaction. A lot of customers have no idea how to even access the router admin page.

You’re literally moaning about this in the wrong place because you’re not even speaking to anyone at BT. So do the right thing and complain directly to BT. You can point stuff like this out all day on this forum and it will go no where.
