I have a 'Check Phone Line' error message on my handset and no dial tone. The handset is plugged into the router (Home Hub 2) and the broadband is working fine. I have tried unplugging the handset cable and plugging it back in and turning the router off for 30s but same message.
Any suggestions?
Was it working before or is this a new installation of Digital Voice(DV)? The hub manager page on 192.168.1.254 should display your phone number. If it does not and this is a new move to DV it could take up until midnight for it to go live. The old phone socket should remain usable in the meantime.
Have you checked the handset batteries as they are poor quality and there are numerous post about replacing batteries. You need rechargeable batteries but for test you can just normal batteries just put phone on base to charge
Good suggestions both, but the OP did say "The handset is plugged into the router " so it suggests it is not battery operated.
WSH: It was working until Sunday, nothing has changed since then. I moved to Digital a good while ago.
WSH: The handset does have rechargeable batteries. The router is about comms not power.
Exactly what phones are they?
The BT supplied digital phones have a well known problem with defective batteries, as imjolly indicated. From what you've said, it sounds as though you have a cordless base station connected to the hub though. If so, it might be worth deregistering the handsets and reregistering them. Possibly also reset the base station and set it up again.
Beyond that, I suspect you need to phone it in as a fault.
The OP has yet to answer the question as to whether the hub is displaying the phone number or 'not configured'.
Like many threads on the forum its like pulling teeth getting the full information.
