Mini Hub sometimes works sometimes doesn't

Hello, hope someone can help.

We have been having problems with our (copper wire) broadband and are soon to switch to fibre. In the meanwhile BT have us a mini hub to see us through to installation. Here's the thing, the mini hub sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Right now, it's not in the list of available networks. Turning it on and off, resetting it, trying it is different places, restarting the laptop doesn't make any difference. Last night it was the same, I'd left it connected, and suddenly I heard the ping (when a new device is connected) and it was there in the list and worked perfectly. So I know it can work, it's not a dud, but what do I need to do to have it consistently work, or could it be a problem mini hub? Thanks

When this isn't being discovered, are you noticing any changes on the lights of the Mini Hub? 
Also if you haven't already, I'd recommend taking a look at the EE Network Status Checker to see if there's anything reported in the area.

When the mini hub is actually connected, it shows a blinking green light. I can't swear to this but I think it was a solid green when not connecting.

I will check with the link you provided. We are in Somerset so have been having atrocious weather here. Is that something that could affect the working of the hub?

It was flashing green when I first got online, now it's solid green. But at least it's working tonight.
