My BT Broadband (Halo 3) ended to day; BT emailed me to outline to the consequences and included the quote:
You'll need to return your kit
If you joined BT after 13 December 2019, please send back your BT kit within 60 days of your BT service ending, otherwise you'll need to pay a charge.
Since I have been with BT through dialup, ISDN, ADSL and FTTC (i.e. decades) doesn't this mean I do not have to return the kit?

if you have started a new contract since 13 december 2019 then it applies if you have received any 'kit' - hub, disc, BTTV box
