Just updated the BT app on my BT mobile and first thing I notice is an advert at the top of the home screen as follows:
However the link does not work!
So, what's the deal? One of the main reasons I have not recontracted is because of the defunct hardware so BT may persuade me to stay if they can replace my Smart Hub 2 and Complete WiFi discs with WiFi 7 equipment.
Hi
I’ve just updated the BT app on my phone and there is a heading saying a new smart hub 3 is coming soon
the link for more info doesn’t work so was wondering if anyone had any info, like when it’s coming and how much?
Google only says smart hub 3 is for business
Thanks
The smart hub 3 has been out a while for bt business broadband customers. Think it has WiFi 6. Maybe they are going to launch it for residential customers now as to be fair we need an updated hub as EE customers seam to be getting priority on that at present.
It won't be the business hub, as that doesn't support digital voice.
Extremely unlikely
BT seems intent to migrate it's residential broadband customers to EE
The intention is to have EE as it's premier product with it's advanced router's and Plusnet as the budget alternative.
BT residential broadband is in a state of limbo at the moment . BT would rather new subscribers opted for EE or Plusnet.
One thing is certain, they won't retrospectively swap out existing SH2s even if an SH3 is introduced, which is very doubtful.
You're not the first to spot this:

The advert on the app includes a picture of what appears to be the latest EE WiFi 7 router with a BT badge in the middle.
I would suggest this isn’t ‘unlikely’ but rather a nailed on development that is about to be announced.
Really this is the section to discuss it.
