Even if this was happening I seriously doubt it would be wifi 7.
Would be in all likelihood a rebadged EE wifi 6 router.
If you really want wifi 7 then simply join EE.
It is the new EE WiFi 7 router with a BT badge on the middle. Looks pretty conclusive to me.
@KodikidYou do realise they have decided to stop pushing people to EE and are maintaining BT as a domestic brand? As such it makes total sense that they had to update their equipment. I don’t know how much clearer the picture on this advert can be? It even says ‘better WiFi’ - what else can that be?
That's odd just read this weeks cordbusters and no mention of BT bringing out a new router.
They're usually pretty perceptive over domestic tech
Also when I googled new BT router there was not a single mention anywhere.
Well this was the ‘basic’ WiFi 7 router being offered to new EE customers a few weeks back but now they only seem to be being offered the top of the range Plus.
So maybe BT has decided to use that equipment for BT users instead?
Which would explain why the websites hadn’t picked it up as it is an existing product that is just being repurposed to another brand.
I have just been on with live chat through bt. This was a couple of section of their response.
Key Details on Smart Hub 3: Availability: Currently shipping for BT Business
customers. Technology: Features Wi-Fi 6 technology and is designed for FTTP.
Consumer Shift: Residential customers are likely to receive the Smart Hub 3
through EE branding, as BT transitions consumer services. Features: Provides
faster, more reliable speeds, and includes updated mesh systems (Complete WiFi
2).
I then asked if I had to upgrade to ee to get the new hub or can I get it through bt
You can get it however, being from new sales team I do not have access to do
it. You will need to call the dedicated team at 0800 800 150 and they will be
able to assist you with this,
I am an exisuting customer with the smart hub 2 which is outdated now.
So it is the same equipment that was being given to new EE customers until a few weeks ago.
I’m guessing the stock of SH2s has finally come to the end so this is being marketed as a new development.
The EE package did give the option of having WiFi 7 extenders added to the router so hopefully that will be possible to replace my complete WiFi discs. Presumably the EE equipment also has a phone port as they sell VOIP service too, although i don’t need that as i ditched Digital Voice when I last renewed over 2 years ago.
Wouldn't get overly excited because Disney plus and now uhd have been coming soon for several years.
Also to add to the evidence the new BT app has this hidden away in the setup options - pretty bad photoshop to hide the EE logo though!
