Smart meter admin password

Did BT ever issue an official 'fix' for the admin password problem -on going for years?

I am still having this problem and would welcome any advice re a simple, tried and tested 'fix'.

I am not an IT expert so it has to be pretty simple!

Many thanks,

oldguy

Re: Smart meter admin password

It would help if we knew what 'admin password problem' that you were talking about.

As far as I'm aware there is no problem.

Re: Smart meter admin password

The problem is when trying to access the Smart hub menus and readings and it asks for 'Admin Password' the one printed on the router info slip on rear of router does not work.

This,to my knowledge, has been a problem almost since the Smart Meter 2's were issued and various 'fixes' were suggested by affected users but these didn't seem to solve the access problem for long.

Any simple, effective fixes would be most gratefully welcomed!

Re: Smart meter admin password

I have absolutely no idea what you mean The admin password works just fine, if it didn't there would be countless posts on the forum about it.

Presumably by Smart Meter you mean Smart Hub.

If your password doesn't work, factory reset the hub to ensure the password is restored to the default on the card.

Re: Smart meter admin password

Apologies-I've got smart meters on my mind-meant the Smart Hub mk 2!

There is extensive advice on the internet re this problem and I guess those affected have learnt how to overcome this long standing problem.

I was just hoping some one had a tried and proven 'fix'.

Will try one of the many internet suggestions .

Thanks for replying.

Re: Smart meter admin password

If you press the recessed button on the back of the hub and hold it 20/30 seconds until hub lights flash.  After that let the hub restart and light should go blue showing internet connected.  Now enter 192.168.1.254 into browser address bar and access hub. You should be able to enter the admin password on the back of the hub and then make changes you want

Re: Smart meter admin password

I have never heard of a problem with the Admin Password. I suspect user error.

Are you sure you are entering the correct password?

After you have entered the Admin Password for the first time or after a factory reset you are forced to change the Admin Password to something different from that on the hubs label.

Re: Smart meter admin password

I repeat, there is no problem with the hub password.

You are either entering the wrong password or somebody has changed it.

A factory reset will restore it to the one printed on the hub/card.
