Thanks Les, Really appreciate your efforts to answer this - I do think think that the Capcitance/Indutance theory is something that is worthy of further exploration, at some point. I like the idea of testing a very long ethernet cable to the Studio and plugging it in to the hotspot appliance. Putting a permanent fix in place using this solution is somewhat more of a ballache than the alternate suggestion.
I think the 'Expansion' is worth a shot - given I only have two options, and if it works, is less faffing than the long ethernet cable.
Is there a way we can get BT to comment technically on the nature of the Spur restrictions?

I doubt BT will be able to offer any more information than is in the user manual (referenced from the above linked page) but I think the diagram below, which I've copied from the user manual, goes some way to explaining what I said earlier about the method of use.
