I purchased a pair of the BT Premium handsets only to find they are legacy phones not VOIP. Therefore the only way to get them to work is to plug them into the Hub which is very inconvenient where I have the Hub situated.
There's nothing in the specifications/description that mentions these phones are old legacy phones.

What do you mean by a VoIP phone ? , a phone with an in built ATA and an Ethernet cable , that wouldn’t be compatible with BT DV as the ATA is built into the router and the phone socket accepts a standard telephone cord plug …plus if the router is in an inaccessible place for the basestation of the cordless DECT phone you have bought , why would a VoIP phone better as the router would still be in an inconvenient place ….I’d you better describe what the problem is or what it is you are trying to achieve.
Thumbs up to BT for actually helping a customer. Who’d have thunk that!
That’s nonsense, VoIP phones don’t connect to wireless networks, hence the question,
What exactly have the BT helpdesk ordered for you ,(model name etc ) if it’s DV phone , it’s not a VoIP phone , it’s a DECT phone that connects the the router via DECT not as a WiFi device, the phone you already have can be paired to the router in the same way as a DV handset , or the basestation of your own phone can be connected to the router and it’s handsets work in the same way via DECT to its own basestation, which is connected to the router .
So looking forward to seeing where this one goes….

BT VOIP phones work by directly connecting to your wireless network (unlike the legacy phones that need to be plugged into the router). Advantages include multiple incoming/outgoing calls on the same line. On contacting BT help desk they ordered them directly for me as currently not available from the BT (or EE) stores.
Hi @crookers I am not sure why this has been marked as the answer. I believe that there are three types of HD phones, all DECT phones that connect direct to the SH2 DECT base station. These are proprietary phones with HD calling, Essential, Advanced and Advanced with Alexa. They are not VOIP phones. Hundreds of BT HD DV phones are available on eBay at a fraction of the BT price.
