bt digital voice upsetting coaxial TV signal

Go to solution

Has anyone else experienced this? Have a TV in kitchen which along with two others are fed by coaxial cable from external aeriel. Started getting weak signal and picture break up. Other two TVs fine. Swapped Tv no better. bought new coaxial cable then new wall socket to no avail . Found that moving TV two feet away helped greatly but could not understand why. Then realised our trouble s started after placing our new Digital Voice handset in its cradle right beside the TV. It is usually off charge as rarely used. Have moved the handset to a different room and so far our TV is working perfectly again in its original location.

I would have thought it more likely to be the charger than the phone, try turning it off at the mains and see if that solves the problem

It will be the DECT radio transmission between the handset and the Home Hub. That continues all of the time while the handset is turned on, to maintain communication with the DECT base station in the home hub.

Hi @Ridgerunner   All DECT phones (including DV) have the potential of upsetting coaxial signals. It used to be a standard troubleshooting question on Sky satellite TV. Have you got a DECT phone close to the coaxial cables?

Thanks for the three replies. As i mentioned that the charger is usually off and is always when i have been trying to watch TV , it is reassuring that the consensus  is that it is the handset that is causing the problem and that i am not imagining things. Had almost arranged for a TV specialist home visit so have saved that expense. Replacing that wall socket was a real hassle due to different types of connections though. It was the non-technical member of the household who made the time connection between problems starting and the phone arriving so it was a team effort.

Thanks again.
