query regarding new BT tv box pro

Go to solution

I am awaiting the arrival of a BTbox pro in the next couple of days which I intend to connect via ethernet to smart hub 2. My question is do I connect my tv aerial to the input on the box and then out to tv or aerial straight intoTV?

Depends on how you wish to receive your Freeview channels. You can either connect by aerial daisy-chained to the TV or you can select IP mode at setup & have the channels delivered over the Internet. The latter I believe gives you generally better quality on non-HD channels at the expense of losing a few.

@arbeeuk

Personally I'd take the first option and in that way you can record upto 4 programmes at one time versus 2 if in IP mode.

Also I suspect that programme start and end times might work better using the aerial input, not much to confirm my suspicions though.

Thanks for the useful info .

So if I use the IP mode I may lose a few channels but will I be able to still watch them on "normal" tv.

@arbeeuk

Yes of course , you just lose the ability to record them.
