Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here can offer some advice regarding my fibre broadband situation. About 1–2 years ago, Openreach upgraded the fibre network in my home village, Tetney. I live about one mile down the road so wasn't particularly hopeful that they would include my property in the upgrade. However, diggers did extended the infrastructure to my property. There’s even a fibre optic node installed on the telegraph pole at the entrance to my drive, with a fresh cable running underground.
Despite this, I still can’t get fibre broadband, while the rest of the village has access. I’ve checked with providers, but they say it’s unavailable for my address. Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know the best way to get BT/Openreach to investigate?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Hi @issasalem
Welcome to the community.
Have you tried popping your postcode into the Openreach fibre checker?
Chris
Pretty sure that was a BDUK Build.
A lot of their Builds in Lincolnshire were stopped before completion a few years back due to running out of funding and they never returned.
It’s possible that fibre from the Pole doesn’t go back very far, i.e. to a Splitter, Agg, Head End, etc.
Hi and thanks for the reply. It says I can get Fibre to the Cabinet Broadband up to 76mbps download but no provider seems to offer this when checking on their websites e.g. BT who I am currently with. I am getting 15mbps at best currently!
Hi and thanks for your reply. How would I go about checking this?
can you enter your phone number but if on digital voice you need to use your address and then post results including all the notes https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
is this what you mean?
Hi @issasalem Try an address in the village, to see if they have Openreach full fibre WBC FTTP or not. If not then it is an Altnet.
This is the house on the opposite side of the road to me and there is a cable which joins ours and their telegraph poles…
And this property is about 300m down the road on the same side. I witnessed diggers extend cables from this properly all the way to mine…
