BT Full Fibre to AltNet

Go to solution

Hi everyone.

Hopefully someone will be able to help with this question I have for a family member. My Uncle has had BT full fibre for some time now and coming to the end of his contract. (end of this month) He’s thinking of moving to Zzoomm as they are available in the area now. What my uncle would like to know is: do Zzoomm use existing cables from Openreach or will they install new cables alongside existing cables from Openreach. Many thanks Mike

They use separate cables. They do not use Openreach infrastructure

Thanks for the reply. I don’t think he’s gonna be too happy with that answer. As he doesn’t want more cables on the front of his home. I knew they didn’t use the same network etc but thought the cable’s might have been able to be used. I let him know thanks 👍🏻

It may be worthwhile also mentioning that the Alt Net should not interfere in anyway with the Openreach kit , so if the Alt Net is installed,  it’s 2 dropwires , 2 CSP’s ( if they use CSP’s ) and 2 ONT’s , although switching the power off the OR ONT is acceptable, removing anything isn’t .

Iniltous  is right.

Alt Nets are not allowed to Remove and or Adjust Openreaches Network.

They would have to put their own Cabling in alongside Openreaches.

He could of course ask Openreach recover it after the Alt Nets is in.

Probably be a fee to do that though.
